In nearly ten years of filming weddings I'm not sure if I've ever seen a wedding as thought-out as Erin & Jason's. As a filmmaker I am trained to never use "filler" in the final cut. Every shot is supposed to have meaning, purposefully driving the story forward. This is tough to do in an unscripted environment such as a wedding. You can imagine my delight when the Officiant Derek Rice began telling their story. Earlier in the day I had spent a good amount of time capturing some of the items Erin had neatly gathered for us. Among them were her grandmother's wedding ring and a locket with a picture. As the story continued the theme of treasure hunting began to unveil itself. Derek beautifully segued into a sentiment about Erin being the true treasure. I remember thinking "this is too good to be true!"

As we entered the reception space I was greeted by a plethora of details all tied into the main theme. Magnifying glasses, maps, and a backdrop which read "You Are My Treasure" all created the perfect setting. Even still, a bible verse really took it to another level - Matthew 6:21 reads "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." All of these details were expertly designed by Heather and her team at Amorology. 

During the edit I was greeted by some candid moments that made for great foreshadowing. Namely, Erin's sister predicted that "crying will definitely happen." Later during her speech she had a brief teary moment to bring the prediction home. Their wedding was a perfect mix of humor, heart warming words, and exciting surprises (confetti canon entrance!!). To this day my only regret is not partaking in the mouth-watering donuts which taunted me throughout the evening. Check out their film and you'll see what I mean!
